- Press Information:
For members of the press, we have compiled a summary sheet of information contained
on our web site. Check it out by clicking here.
- Installation of Your RockNob:
- RockNobs can be used on most any standard transmission vehicle. We have
designed the universal adapter to work with both threaded and press on
shift levers.
- The universal adapter consists of the RockNob itself with the adapter sleeve mounted in it,
a set of plastic cup shims, and set screws (see photo below).

Figure 1 - RockNob and Universal Adapter Kit
- Remove the current gearshift knob.
- Find the plastic cup shim that best fits the top of your shift lever.
Press it firmly onto the shift lever so it is completely seated and does not
wiggle when moved (see Figure 2). (Note:
we have designed the shims to fit the most common sizes of shift lever
diameters. If one does not fit exactly, tightly wrap some electrical tape around the top
of the shift lever to increase its diameter to fit one of the plastic cup shims included
with your RockNob.)

Figure 2 - Plastic Cup Shim Installed on Shift Lever
- Depending on the diameter of your shift lever at the position of the set screw holes,
you will have to select either the short or long set screws to use in the next step.
Try short ones first.
- Slide the RockNob down onto the shift lever making sure it is pushed all the
way on. Now, position your RockNob so it feels good when shifting and tighten the
set screws evenly, bit by bit. Only tighten enough to keep the knob from rotating in normal operations.
Tightening the set screws too much can strip the treads in the mount. (See Figure 3.)

- Removing Shift Knob from Jeep Wrangler
Starting in 1997 Jeep Wranglers went to a new shift knob mounting system. Not only
did they change the thread size to M10x1.5 but they also hid the lock nut from view.
To remove the standard rubberized shift knob from your wrangler (again 1997 and newer only)
you must pry out the plastic piece at the top of the knob that has the shift pattern on it.
Use a butter knife or a nail file and stick it between the hard plastic of the top cap and
the soft rubber of the knob. Then get under the plastic cap and pry it out. This will then
reveal the locknut. Use a socket wrench to remove this nut (I think it is a 14mm or 15mm
socket). Now unscrew the knob from the shift lever. You are now free to ROCK YOUR STICK.
